Commission is the percentage of staking rewards a validator retains before passing the remainder to delegators. At epoch 971, Solana's 28-validator wiki universe ranges from 0% to 100% on Jito MEV commission and 0% to 10% on base commission. The headline figure obscures: a 0% commission validator with a high skip rate can yield a lower effective APY to stakers than a 5% commission validator with strong performance.

A validator's commission rate has two components a staker must read together:

  • Base commission — applied to protocol inflation rewards (the dominant reward source at ~5.5–6% gross APY)
  • Jito MEV commission — applied separately to Jito tip distributions (variable; roughly 0.13% gross APY at epoch 971)

For total APY received by a staker, both reductions stack. See the Commission rate glossary entry and the APY glossary entry for the full mechanics.

Methodology

  • Universe: the 28 validators in this wiki's directory
  • Source: Stakewiz API (api.stakewiz.com/validators), snapshot at epoch 971 (~2026-05-15)
  • Ranking metric: base commission ascending; tiebreaker is total APY (total_apy) descending — this surfaces validators whose low commission actually translates to high staker yield rather than merely a low headline number
  • Context: Jito MEV commission, total APY, 30-day skip rate (because low commission with high skip is often false economy)

How to read this list

The ranking puts 0% commission validators at positions 8–10 deliberately. After tiebreaking on total APY, the actual top-staker-yield validators surface at the bottom of the rank-by-commission view: Capital Alliance, Helius, and Lord Validates-a-Lot all deliver 6.02–6.03% total APY with zero commission of either kind. They are the highest-yield validators in this wiki's universe at epoch 971.

The validators ranked 1–7 charge commission but appear "near the top" by the headline commission number. Their total APY is materially lower (5.32–5.79%) because of compounding commission impact.

A few specific notes:

  • Stakeconomy / Triton. One (rank 1) — 2% base / 2% Jito is conservative; total APY of 5.79% is the lowest in this ranking among the listed validators precisely because the commissions stack.
  • Everstake (rank 6) — base commission 7% is reasonable; Jito MEV commission of 100% is unusual — Everstake retains the full Jito tip flow rather than passing it to delegators. For stakers prioritizing MEV exposure, this matters; see Top validators for MEV rewards for the MEV-passthrough view.
  • Galaxy (rank 3) — 5% base / 25% Jito is mid-range; the 25% Jito commission accounts for the lower total APY despite the lower base figure.

What this ranking is not

This list is the lowest-headline-commission validators in the wiki directory, not "best yield for stakers." For staker-side yield, sort the table by total APY column descending — top entries become Capital Alliance, Helius, Lord Validates-a-Lot, all with 6.02–6.03% total APY.

A 0% commission with poor performance can underperform a 5% commission validator with strong vote credits under TVC (Timely Vote Credits). See the TVC entry in _solana.md vocabulary and the validator's individual profile for vote-credit-ratio context.
